UNDER NEW LEADERSHIP, FENCE MAGAZINE HOLDS LARGE AUCTION TO BENEFIT MAGAZINE, BOOK & ONLINE PUBLICATIONS
Queens, NY 10/2/2022 The newly anointed Editorial Co-Directors of Fence Magazineand Fence Publications, Emily Wallis Hughes and Jason Zuzga, announce an Art + Object + Experience Benefit Auction, hosted on the auction site Galabid.
Zuzga and Wallis, who took over from founding editor Rebecca Wolff earlier this year, have already published an inaugural issue #39 featuring a compendium of writing from nurses around the country. The auction will launch for the public on October 6, 2022, at noon, EDT and will include items highlighted by art from Charles Long, Kiki Smith, Erica Baum, Emilie Clark, Julia Jacquette, Jim Drain, Vi Khi Nao, Amy Maloof, Claudia Rankine and others, a studio visit with artist Elliott Hundley, and a residency stay. Other items on offer include bespoke jewelry, a dual membership to the Whitney Museum, rare Matmos albums, in-home cooking lessons, a tarot deck, a hand-made quilt, astrology readings, a vintage Olivetti Valentine typewriter, manuscript consultations with Fence editors as well as the Clegg Agency, dinner with a Fence editor, and a handmade Ojibwe birchbark berry basket. The goal is to raise at least $30,000, and the auction will be live October 6th to October 26th::

We have a remarkable group of editors, diverse literary and extra-literary features online and in print, and a huge base of readers and artists who depend on us. Now we must build an enduring infrastructure to support our expanded programs, pay our editorial staff and the writers and artists published in our pages, and underwrite the features and always surprising, unconventional poetry and fiction that have always been a hallmark of our magazine. Fence will continue to surprise across and between genres.”
